What Is The New York Impaired Driver Program (IDP)?

What is the Impaired Driver Program?

The IDP program is the Impaired Driver Program. Given by the Department of Motor Vehicles, it’s for people after their case is resolved. Some judges order it as part of a disposition for a lesser crime of driving while abilities are impaired, such as a DUI or a DWAI.

It’s required as part of the sentencing for driving while intoxicated. The Department of Motor Vehicles will require a person to take this class, which is seven sessions. They need to do this class in order to be eligible to get their driver’s license after the period of license suspension or revocation is resolved.
