NY Chiropractor Pleads Guilty To Aggravated Vehicular Homicide
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Dr. Stephen Divito, 40, a western New York chiropractor has pleaded guilty to several charges, including aggravated vehicular manslaughter following a hit-and-run accident that killed a couple.
The accident took place last November when Divito’s SUV hit Patricia and James DePinto’s car, killing the Greek couple on Lake Ontario State Parkway in Parma. Divito was driving drunk too fast when he hit the couples car and drove off after the crash. However, he was later arrested when he crashed his vehicle into a tree a few miles away from the scene of the first crash after he lost control of his car on a curve.
Divito pleaded guilty in county court Monday to eight charges. These charges included aggravated vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault, leaving the scene of a person injury accident and drunken driving. According to the Monroe County District Attorney’s office, Divito of Irondequoit, faces up to 15 years in state prison.
At the moment, Divito is out of jail and continues to practice as a chiropractor. His office is located in Irondequoit. His sentence is scheduled for January 15.
